Michael D. Fratkin, MD, FAAHPM

A father, a husband, and a problem solver by habit, Dr. Michael D. Fratkin, MD has navigated a diverse 30 year career in medicine with curiosity, purpose, and respect. Landing in the beautiful redwood forests after training, Michael brought an Internal Medicine practice to the community clinic system, acted as medical director for our hospice agency, established a palliative care consultation service in our hospitals, developed a palliative care program embedded in our cancer center, and built, ResolutionCare, a first-of-its-kind home based interdisciplinary palliative care program utilizing telemedicine to extend its reach throughout California, Oregon, and Washington.

Dr. Fratkin has now turned his efforts and attention to ensuring safety and effectiveness in the developing field of psychedelic care. Michael's particular focus is on serving individuals grappling with end-of-life issues, affinity-group based interventions that support learning and healing for his fellow healthcare professionals, and gathering needed resources to provide therapy to community members in need without regard to their ability to pay. Through organizing professional retreats with collaborating experts in psychotherapy, organizational development, and spiritual care, Dr. Fratkin is committed to striking the balance of learning and healing.

A fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, he practices at the Center for New Growth, is Board President for the Institute for Rural Psychedelic Care, is a Board Director for Divine Journeys, as well as SHINE Collective.

Bryan Kraus, LCSW

Bryan was drawn to deep questions about meaning and purpose as a teen, sparking a lifelong interest in Buddhism. This curiosity eventually led him to Northern California, where he lived for six years in a Tibetan Buddhist meditation community, Chagdud Gonpa. There, he studied with Buddhist masters and participated in both group and solitary meditation retreats—experiences that continue to shape how he understands healing and presence.

Bryan then pursued academic studies in psychology and social work at Cal Poly Humboldt. After earning his MSW in 2019, he began his career in palliative care, supporting individuals and families as they navigate the emotional and relational challenges that come with life-limiting illness. In his current role at Madrone Care, Bryan focuses on bringing community-based palliative care to underserved communities across northern California.

As an LCSW, Bryan brings a mindfulness-informed approach to therapy, rooted in empathy, curiosity, and a commitment to social justice. He's especially passionate about holding a therapeutic space where every person feels seen, safe, and empowered. In addition to working as a therapist, he loves performing music and enjoys integrating music into his therapeutic work, offering it as a supportive and grounding presence for clients when appropriate. Music has long been a personal source of connection and expression for him, and he values the unique ways it can foster emotional healing and deepen the therapeutic process.
